Debbie Mood, PhD will describe the developmental impact of reduced hearing and ASD to increase providers' confidence in recognizing symptoms which warrant referral for further evaluation and intervention. Time will be devoted to strategies for discussing these developmental concerns with families, in order to empower families to make informed decisions about next steps in pursuing high quality assessment and intervention. Finally, considerations for intervention for children dually diagnosed with reduced hearing and autism will be discussed based on research and clinical experience.
