The Sinusitis Clinic

The Sinusitis Clinic at Children's Colorado is one of the longest-running clinics of its kind in the nation. Established over a decade ago, specialists at our clinic treat 60 to 80 kids every year for chronic sinus infection. The Sinusitis Clinic specialists use a wide array of tools to easily and effectively diagnose and treat sinusitis (sinus infections) in kids. These tools include minimally invasive, image-guided endoscopic techniques and the newest medications. 

When should I bring my child to the Sinusitis Clinic?

• When the diagnosis of sinusitis /chronic sinusitis is uncertain
• When the routine treatment for sinusitis is not working to treat your child’s sinusitis
• When you or your healthcare provider wants to know if there might be other reasons that are contributing to your child’s disease process (examples include allergic/immunologic causes, infectious disease or physical issues)
• When you think a second opinion is worthwhile

What can we expect from a visit to the Sinusitis Clinic?

The visit will take place in the ENT Clinic at Children’s Hospital Colorado on the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora. We may schedule a CT scan before or during the visit. Generally, all three subspecialists from ENT, Allergy and Immunology and Infectious Diseases are present for your child’s appointment.

The specialists come into the exam room as a group. They will ask a series of common questions and some additional questions based on your child’s clinical history. They will also examine your child.

Finally, the specialists will speak with you about their assessment and recommended plan of care for your child. Your child may also need additional laboratory tests and treatment. Occasionally, the allergist/immunologist may order a screening allergy skin test or a pulmonary function test. The visit generally lasts 45 to 60 minutes for new patients.
