Children’s Hospital Colorado is proud to provide emergency medical transport services for infants, kids and teens across Colorado – and beyond – through our Children’s One fleet.

We offer critical care air and ground transport from all Colorado counties, our seven-state region, the U.S. and even other countries.

About Children’s One emergency transport

Our flight team was founded in 1974 by neonatologist L. Joseph Butterfield, MD, who saw the need to bring the tiniest patients from around the region to the Children’s Colorado Newborn Center, our modern-day Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).

We’re proud to continue Dr. Butterfield’s legacy by providing premature infants and children of all ages with world-class emergency transport through Children’s One.

Our emergency fleet

Children’s One transportation vehicles are equipped with pediatric-specific technology including high-frequency ventilators and nitric oxide therapy. This allows our team to provide lifesaving emergent care while transporting patients to a Children’s Colorado emergency department, children’s surgery center or critical care unit.

Our vehicles are specially tailored to kids, designed to make the transport experience as comfortable and seamless as possible for patients and parents alike. For example, we provide toys and entertainment in our ambulances to help distract patients from emergency procedures and reduce their perception of pain. Our vehicles also offer more interior space for additional caregivers and lifesaving equipment.
