The Heart Institute Welcome Program for Parents and Children

We understand a hospital stay can be stressful and that coming from out of town can add to that stress. Traveling someplace new with a sick child, while also managing all the details of your trip and each step of your child's care, can be truly overwhelming. We created the Welcome Program to help reduce that stress and provide the support families need.

Making your hospital visit a little easier

If your child is scheduled for heart surgery and you live more than 50 miles away, our welcome coordinator will reach out to see how we can make your visit easier. We'll let you know what to expect before, during and after surgery, taking as much time as needed to carefully answer any questions you may have.

In addition to coordinating travel arrangements and directing you to nearby lodging, we can connect you with financial assistance, sibling care, a child life specialist or social worker. When you arrive at Children's Hospital Colorado, we'll meet you at the front door, help you find your way around, and introduce you to the team members you'll want to know while you're here.

This is a hard time for many families; as experts we understand what you're going through and we will help in every way we can. We also realize that every situation is unique, so if you have special areas of concern, please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate your need. Our goal is to help you, while you help care for your child.
