Aurora Sentinel | abril 27, 2015

Children’s Hospital Colorado is proud to announce that Jena Hausmann has been named president and chief executive officer, effective May 1, 2015. Hausmann has been serving as the interim CEO since January 2015, in addition to her role as president and chief operating officer.

After an extensive national search, the Board of Directors selected Hausmann, who was a finalist among an impressive pool of candidates.

“Jena has done a fantastic job in her role as interim CEO and clearly has demonstrated the skills needed to lead one of the nation’s top children’s hospitals,” said Kevin Reidy, board chair. “She is dedicated, compassionate and tireless in her efforts to make Children’s Colorado the best hospital for kids and is beloved by the organization. In addition, Jena is respected by our key partners, including physicians, staff and board members, as well as community and healthcare leaders across the Rocky Mountain region.”

With nearly two decades of experience in healthcare administration, Hausmann is a recognized leader in healthcare in the U.S. She’s also intimately knowledgeable about Children’s Colorado and the Rocky Mountain healthcare market. Hausmann has served on the hospital’s senior leadership team for 11 years. She joined the hospital in 2004 as vice president of Strategic Planning and Network of Care Operations and was promoted in 2008 to chief operating officer and to president in 2011.

Children’s Colorado has experienced significant and consistent growth over the past seven and a half years since moving to the Anschutz Medical Campus, and Hausmann has played a critical role in this growth. She developed, executed and operationalized the organization’s strategic plan over the past five years, including Children’s Colorado’s Network of Care strategy, which offers top pediatric care close to home for families in Metro Denver, southern Colorado and throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

"We are excited about the impact we will make on the communities we serve with Jena as our new CEO," said Gil Peri, chief strategy officer at Children's Colorado. "Jena's collaborative leadership style will enable us to realize our aspiration as a leading children's hospital in the country, while propelling our organization to new heights in the rapidly changing healthcare environment."

“I am deeply honored to be named the CEO of Children’s Hospital Colorado,” said Hausmann. “This isn’t just a job or a title. As many of my incredible colleagues know, serving this organization and our precious patients is a calling.”

Prior to joining Children’s Colorado, Hausmann worked at Fairview Health System in Minneapolis as an administrative fellow and then quickly rose to senior management at the University of Minnesota Medical Center where she provided leadership over a large number of operational areas, as well as planning and business development activities.

In 2008, Modern Healthcare featured Hausmann as one of the 12 “rising healthcare management stars.” Hausmann currently is on the board of directors for Metro North Chamber of Commerce and the chair of the 2015 Colorado Kidney Foundation Walk. Recently, she has served on the board of directors for YMCA of Metropolitan Denver and March of Dimes Colorado, where she served as the 2012 March for Babies revenue chair.

Hausmann has a master’s degree in Healthcare Administration from the University of Minnesota and a B.A. in Political Science from Colorado College, where she is a cum laude graduate.
