Addressing the unique needs of every child so they can be their unique selves.

Care for pediatric mental health extends far beyond the walls of our hospitals and clinics. Because we want every child's mind to be as healthy as possible, we share a wealth of mental health provider resources to improve care wherever children receive it. Below, you will find videos from Children's Hospital Colorado providers discussing a range of pediatric behavioral health topics.

Our experts from the Pediatric Mental Health Institute have created these mental health provider videos to share their experience, knowledge and research with providers across the country and beyond. They discuss specific conditions, new research findings, diagnostic and treatment techniques and more.

Disruptive mood disorder: New inroads to treatment

Disruptive mood is a commonly misdiagnosed condition in children. If left untreated, it can isolate children and cause issues into adulthood, resulting in continued isolation, troubled relationships and low socioeconomic status. In the following video, Joel Stoddard, MD, a psychiatrist at the Pediatric Mental Health Institute at Children's Colorado, discusses the diagnosis and treatment of disruptive mood disorder in children. He highlights how children with disruptive mood interpret cues, select responses and choose behaviors. Lastly, Dr. Stoddard discusses one of the clinical trials underway at Children's Colorado that focuses on improving interpretation bias.
