Patient Ratings and Reviews

At Children’s Hospital Colorado, we’re committed to providing the best possible care for our patients through quality and safety, improving our patient experience, and providing transparency. We believe that sharing patient ratings and reviews for our providers gives you the information you need to make the best healthcare decision for your child.

Our satisfaction survey

Patient ratings and reviews at Children’s Colorado are collected through NRC Health’s Star Ratings solution – a survey that calculates feedback from existing patient and family survey data.

Patient ratings and reviews

Provider star ratings are based on a survey that patients and families receive after an appointment at one of our outpatient clinics. Families are asked a series of questions including, “Using any number from 0 to 10, where 0 is the worst provider possible and 10 is the best provider possible, what number would you use to rate this provider?” NRC Health then uses a standard calculation to convert the 10-point response scale for the rated provider question to a 1- to 5-star rating scale.

NRC Health experts review every comment to determine which are eligible for publishing and which need additional review. Every comment is examined at least twice for profanity, defamatory language, protected health information (PHI) and other sensitive content.

Are all patient reviews posted?

All patient ratings and reviews are updated monthly. Older feedback does not display after one year. Children’s Colorado posts all ratings and reviews for providers who are surveyed and have at least 20 ratings, regardless of their positive or negative feedback. There are exceptions for offensive or malicious language, information that jeopardizes patient privacy (names, details of appointment, etc.) and comments unrelated to that provider.

Why don't all providers have ratings and reviews?

Star ratings are only displayed for outpatient providers who have at least 10 ratings in a rolling 12-month period. Healthcare professionals listed on our website who have medical privileges to practice at Children’s Colorado but are community providers are not surveyed. This ensures the data we provide to you are valid and meaningful.

Why are there are no replies to the review comments?

It is not possible for patients to be notified of replies posted on the website, but Children’s Colorado does contact patients privately to address concerns raised in the review comments.
