Gynecology is a field where it’s especially important to have providers trained to work with younger patients. Children and teens have unique conditions and needs and going to the gynecologist can be stressful. The Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology team works with children, teens and young adults in a way that makes them feel comfortable and safe. If your child has a gynecologic condition, get a second opinion from providers who have experience and expertise in caring for kids.

Children born with congenital conditions get the advantage of having a compassionate doctor to support them as they grow and develop. And when it comes to conditions that can affect the reproductive system, getting the right treatment not only affects our patients, but can also affect our patients’ future children. That is why it’s so important to get a second opinion from experienced experts that can support your child and family as your child develops.

To start the process, simply schedule an initial information call with a provider so we can get the information we need to match you with the right specialist. After the first call, we’ll decide the doctor that is best suited for you to have an in-person appointment and provide a second opinion.

Meet our second opinion pediatric gynecology providers

Our pediatric gynecologists care for patients of all ages, treating common and rare conditions. Because of the sensitive nature of gynecology, we collaborate with other departments in the hospital to address the psychological and emotional needs of our patients and their families. Based on our initial conversation, we’ll pair you and your child with a doctor who specializes in your child’s condition. We know that adolescence can already be a stressful time in a young woman’s life, which is why we welcome every patient with a level of sensitivity and empathy that makes them feel safe and comfortable.

Why request a second opinion from the Department of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology?

Children and adolescents have conditions and needs unique to them. Because we specialize in pediatric care, we are more familiar than adult hospitals with gynecologic conditions that appear in childhood, such as congenital anomalies and abnormal menstruation.

In addition to our pediatric gynecological expertise, we take great care with our patients knowing that the treatment they receive as children can affect them after puberty and into adulthood. This is one reason we created the Fertility Preservation and Reproductive Late Effects Program. This program is designed to address gaps in care and to improve the fertility and reproductive health of patients receiving chemotherapy, radiation or surgical procedures that may impact fertility. A second opinion from Children’s Colorado can help your child get care that will benefit them now and for years to come.
